Do I Qualify?

Are currently homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless?
Have you received an eviction notice?
Have you lost your job and have no immediate financial resources?

Iowa Rental Help can assist low-income Iowans who are in a variety of difficult situations. If you are a renter, a current homeowner who is losing your residence, or homeless individual who wishes to find a permanent housing, Iowa Rental Help is here for you!

To qualify, your income must be at or below 50% of the area median income. (In some local jurisdictions, eligibility criteria is more strict.) Also, you must be at risk of homelessness. Please contact Iowa Rental Help to learn about eligibility in your area. Also, you may not combine Iowa Rental Help’s financial assistance with any other federal assistance you currently receive, including Section 8, etc. 

Iowa Rental Help does not offer:

  • Assistance longer than 18 months
  • Child care
  • Credit back payments (credit cards, loans, etc.)
  • Direct payments to program participants
  • Discharge planning at institutions
  • Education (books, fees, tuition, etc.)
  • Employment training
  • Food, household items, clothing
  • Furniture and appliances
  • Mortgage assistance
  • Transportation (gas, fees, tuition, etc.)
